Black Crown of Recurring Loss (Maquette)
By Larassa Kabel
$5,500.00
Description
Larassa Kabel’s public sculpture, Black Crown of Recurring Loss, commissioned by The Avenues, can now, at a much smaller scale, make its way into your home. Inspired by a miniature bronze sculpture at The Menil Collection in Houston, Kabel’s small maquettes of back to back fallow deer, explore loss, love’s inextricable shadow. In dark bronze, with wood bases, these sculptures show the connected deer, their antlers entwined, one alive, the other no longer alive (the ears that are relaxed, do so in death). Each pair of antlers are customized by hand carving and sanding.
