Artist Portfolios jd hansen Each sculpture is based on a strong, initial concept that is deeply personal. It is defined and focused through extensive writing, but no sketching. I take that initial concept and build upon it, creating a piece that is emotional, but subdued. The piece is built up, then slowly stripped of anything that isn't necessary, revealing the primitive essence of the subject. The pieces are sculpted in hot wax over metal armature, then cast into bronze.
